Life is made up of a series of events. Each event sets into motion a new path in one’s life and like a ripple in the water, that path grows bigger and eventually impacts more and more people. Some events, though seem small, can have a huge effect on many lives. In a split second something can happen which drastically alters the future. Such is the case for two former NFL athletes of the Washington Redskins. Andre Carter and Phillip Daniels had such an event take place on October 22nd, 2006 that would alter the future for two organizations. It was a game between the Washington Redskins and the Indianapolis Colts where Carter and Daniels delivered a vicious hit on quarterback Peyton Manning. (Snicropi, 2014). This surgery was meant to relieve pressure of a compressed nerve as opposed to having a full blown fusion or disk replacement surgery. The hope was to keep Manning on the field and opting for the less evasive surgery and hope it would take. Manning was able to play, however the pain and discomfort would continue to get worse. The injury would start to cause degeneration of the spine, thus causing instability and a loss of awareness of his arm in space (Snicropi, 2014). Manning would continue to work and rehab to the best of his ability, however the pain would come back and the constant playing was making it worse. This led to two more procedures that year to relieve the pressure from his disc herniations. The continued degeneration and weakness would lead Manning and the Colts to finally realize that this problem was more severe than initially expected and the possibility for a more evasive surgical intervention might need to be taken. He would have to wrestle with his age and the posability a return to full health might not be possible. Manning was becoming more discourage with his progress during this time, which led him to return home to consult his family and gain a more clearer perspective on his
