The importance of the phosphorus is that is needed to make ATP, DNA, and lipids. When it rains, phosphorus is released from weathering of rocks and plants absorb phosphorus through their roots. After that, phosphorus moves up the food chain as animals eat plants. (For example, the phosphors is in flowers which then goes to the snail, because snails eat flowers and plants. Then phosphors going into frogs because frogs eats snails). The decomposers obtain phosphorus as they feed on dead remains. The phosphorus is released in waste. It's basically a continued cycle of phosphorus throughout the ecosystem.
