Phlebotomy was not my first choice of job when it became time to start thinking about establishing a lifetime career. My first exposure to lots of blood was not a pleasant one: we had been neutering cats in my veterinary trade class and the amount of blood that I had witnessed nearly made me faint (I had to excuse myself to the bathroom to sit down for a moment). But after that, I slowly grew more comfortable at the sight and even participated in stitching up spayed animals and watching hematomas be drained.
