June was a 23-year-old African American woman, who referred by the Administration for Children Service (ACS). She adhere to ACS to receive counseling from a community base organization (CBO) for treatment because of her concerns about being depress. She stated at intake that her depression, recently treated with an anti-depressant medication, had been on-going since the age of fourteen years old symptoms include but not limited to feelings of hopelessness, sleeplessness, and thoughts of suicide. She noted that she has experienced some symptoms of depression when she was in high school, but was not able to remember any specific details. She spoke sluggishly with extended gaps between phrases and walked at a slow pace to the session every week. Language and astuteness suggested below average aptitude, which was surprising given that June was in her first semester of her master program at Teacher College which is a competitive university. June when in her undergraduate studies graduated several months earlier from Columbia University. She was living with roommate due to her family living in different state and she reported to be lonely. She described that he had one close friend, but noted that this relationship is more important to her than it is to her friend. June described her relationship with others very vaguely, stating that she always had more than other could offer. She reported issues with making new friends she believes is due to her social phobias.
