Las Meninas is a painting originally by Velazquez in 1656 and 30 years later interpreted in 58 different ways by Picasso. In both Velazquez and Picasso’s versions, it can be seen that the technique of paintings vary in different styles. Since every artists have different sides of the story, of course Velazquez and Picasso have different messages to send. They want to get the viewers to think deeper and deeper about their portraits. Even so, there are also a few similarities involved in both versions since Picasso actually got the inspiration from Velazquez. So, what are the meanings and messages?
