Piggy: The Legistic Ego

The ego is the main force in our psyche that is influenced by both the logical superego and chaotic id. The ego is more influenced by the superego than by the id because the ego leans toward logic and not to pure base instinct. Impulses that are difficult to control, such as lust, aggression, and voracity, are impulses that the ego tries to control. The ego is the product of synthesis. Here we see Piggy. Piggy is an intellectual-type with poor vision and a weight problem. Piggy is physically defenseless against all of the other boys, but he is mentally superior. Piggy follow rules diligently. For instance, when he wants the floor to share a thought, Piggy grabs the conch (a symbol of authority) and says "I got the conch! Just you listen!"
