How CT Got Its Shape Introduction There are many different processes that gave CT it’s present day shape and landscape. Three of the Major processes include: Plate Tectonics and their movement, Glaciation, and Weathering and Erosion. Plate Tectonics Plate tectonics are the main reason why we have the land in the first place. The movement of the North American plate collided with another continent giving CT the infamous Appalachian Mountains. Divergent boundaries also created many rifts and the CT River valley which glaciers would later carve through to form the vast valleys of Connecticut.
