I can see a lot of similarities and differences when I read the synopsis form the Matrix, Plato’s The Republic, and Descartes Meditation. Just from reading these stories and the background from them it makes you think what is real or not. Just as in the matrix neo was always thinking throughout the movie what was real and what wasn’t real, such as in the other stories. Which the similarity in all of these were that the people in them were questioning themselves of what was real reality and what wasn’t. But the differences in them were quit out of proportion to being even near similar. As in Plato’s cave the mind was controlled by mankind, the matrix was all around controlled by a computer system and Descartes was controlled by the individual’s …show more content…
In “The Matrix”, Neo knows only one reality and that is the one he has been accustom to since the day he was born and them same goes for Plato’s cave. In Plato’s cave from being young they were experiencing shadows upon the cave that was playing tricks with their minds making them question themselves is if they were real or not. Such as in the matrix Neo was a slave to the dull reality everyone else around him was so used to but was unaware of the real reality he was about to experience. But the difference between these two stories is how the individuals were brought to knowledge of the false reality they were living in their whole life and the aftermath of the realization. After being set free from the reality the individual was living in Plato’s cave he start to seek more and understands how much better this new way of living life is. The individual discovers that its way better and helps the ones who are still in the cave to come over to the new and better reality. As in The matrix, before experiencing the alternate reality Neo was always questioning himself and the reality he was living in and wondering was this all it is to this human life or is it more we are unaware of? As in the comparison between the matrix and Descartes they are both having second’s thoughts about the current reality they are living in. As
