Ralph Waldo Emerson stated " Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow," in many way this is true; when learning new ways to expand knowledge a person already has they must set goals, practice everyday, and even when it gets tough they can never give up. When learning something new it takes dedication. I have had the experience of expanding my knowledge by learning a new musical instrument. Playing the piano was the only thing I knew how to play until picking up a guitar. Starting this new adventure in my life, I knew it would be difficult; each week setting new goals for myself to accomplish. Practicing everyday plus the three days a week with the trainer helped. Learning several new steps each day became too much, I could not catch on that quickly. By slowing things down and taking time figuring out new ways of holding the guitar, listening to the sounds at the same time as playing, and how and where to put my fingers on the strings things became much easier. After practicing and mastering how to hear the sound of the guitar and trying to match it with a piano, I was on my way to accomplishing my original goals of playing two beautiful sounding instruments. When learning something new it can become overwhelming. When first starting to learn the strings and chords, I became scared and worried, I did not know if I could continue to learn. Each day I wanted to give up more and more, but I never did. I tried to learn everything so quickly, I failed to realize that pushing myself harder only made me feel like giving up even more. Having the trainer there to help me and understand how hard and over whelming it is to learn something new, helped so much. She knew how it felt ,she had been in that situation before. The trainer told me "Do not give up, you will only
