We all have heard or even maybe seen the movies about the tragic love story of Pocahontas and John Smith. You know, where the girl saves the guy, but did she really save him? Well, that’s exactly what I’ll be discussing in this essay examining all sides to this historical event. This will allow me to prove that Pocahontas did not rescue John Smith and protect him from death. There is not enough evidence to prove that the King really wanted to execute him. Which then points to John all a long using this as a publicity stunt on his behalf.

Pocahontas did not save John Smiths life during the time the King wanted to “beat out my [Johns] brains (Smiths).” If you feel you are planning to kill someone you would not change your mind under any circumstances no matter who attempts to stop you. Especially if the King welcomed John with open arms. So, why would the King want to execute John? Therefor this event most likely did not happen and was a false statement from John. Perhaps John Smith lied about the execution to make himself look like the victim allowing everyone to feel sorry for
