“A man was stopped at a checkpoint driving under the influence. He called his daughter to pick him up. Well, the place his daughter was hanging out just happened to be one of the bars under watch by police. And after climbing behind the wheel to get her father, she, too, was arrested for driving while intoxicated. All these stories are somewhat entertaining, but here's the sobering part: This is just a sampling of the impaired drivers out on any given night, endangering everyone. That's not so funny.
Also not funny is the financial strain of even a first-time DUI, which can be $7,000 to $10,000 for court penalties, insurance increases,
