Poem
The poem I read is titled,
If,
by Rudyard Kipling. Rudyard was a famous poet mostly known for his tales and stories. The poem if was made in 1896 when Rudyard was 31 years old.
He was an English story writer, poet and novelist born in India, Bombay. The author uses vivid and precise vocabulary when he wants to express the feeling people might have when they are struggling. The author uses this type of vocabulary mostly throughout this poem, one example of this could be in the fifth line of the third stanza. Rudyard Kipling also uses literary devices in some parts of the poem too. Types of literary devices that were used in this poem are enjambment, repetition, alliteration and personification. The rhythm and meter scale which meant nothing since they were broken. The main idea of the poem I read, was that the speaker wanted his son to grow up to what he thinks of a man. A man is when you transcend above all other obstacles like words, family and social events
Even if you are not in complete shape, you always have to be at your best. The book I am reading is titled ,
If
, by Rudyard Kipling. “ If you fill the unforgiving minute With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run, Yours is the Earth and everything in it”(Kipling). Giving your best does not mean to slow down, you have to keep progressing until you meet your goal as in my theme.
Success is interpreted in many different ways, as we discussed about our idea based on success a few weeks ago. My idea of success is when you achieve beyond your expectations, and this

quote shows you how to become successful. This quote means that if you give your best in the short life you have, the world will be yours, which that you can choose your destiny. The sound the poet used while staying this was like a father telling a son how the future would like for him.
There is no perfection, being successful is not the same as perfect, they are two different ideas.
Even when experiencing pain, you have to keep going as there is no perfection. An example of playing through pain is when Shun Fujimoto, a japanese gymnast competed on the rings injured during the 1976 olympics and won a gold medal after breaking his kneecap. He ended up dislocating it when he landed. Shun, in my mind is successful since he gave it a try to compete in front of the whole world with a broken knee cap. He surpassed his expectations since he also got a gold medal for his country.
No matter where you stand in the crowd, you always have to be bold and willing to risk everything you have. The poem I read is titles ,
If,
by Rudyard Kipling. “If you can make one heap of all your winnings And risk it on one turn of pitchandtoss”(Kipling). When you risk on something, it does not necessarily mean that you are going to lose everything
