Director Roman Polanski's take on Macbeth act III, scene IV has many differences from the original stage version. Polanski decided to set his version of the famous play in a medieval time period, it is also implied that Ross and Lennox knew about the murder of Banquo due to the fact that Macbeth had them dispatch of the murderers in the toilet. When the ghost of Banquo appears, instead of being covered in gashes, his health appears to deteriorate slowly to the point where he looks like a corpse. Many lines were either cut or moved. Overall Polanski’s Macbeth was effective at delivering the message of the scene.
