Community The city of Ponderosa exists as a resort town along the shore of Lake Pristine nestled in the Sierra Mountains of California. The city relies on tourism as its major industry, which peaks in the summer because tourists arrive to swim, boat, and fish the lake as well as hike and bike the scenic trails (Finkler, Purtell, Calabrese, & Smith, 2013). During the winter, the tourists partake in activities involving the local ski resorts, cross-country ski trails, and snowmobile areas. Furthermore, nearly eighty percent of jobs revolve around the tourism industry and the tourism industry provides year-round employment for the many residents of the city because of its diverse nature (Finkler et al., 2013).
