Ponyboy’s message for Cherry Valence compares with Johnson’s message to the American people in 1965 that even though one may look, or do things differently, everyone is still human and should be equal to one another. In Johnson’s “Inaugural Address“, Johnson wants the public to know that everyone should be respectful to one another. For instance, Johnson says, "...I have believed that this injustice to our people...was our real enemy" (9). Johnson loathes inequality and wants it to cease. Americans have fought and killed just to get independence from Great Britain. They fought for several reasons, but the main reason is freedom.
