Whether you have been there omusir just heard about it the Portland Headlight is a beautiful sight. Construction began in 1787 after two people died in a nearby boating accident. The General Court of Massachusetts gave $750 towards construction, but when they ran out of funds they had to stop. When the United States Government took over all lighthouses in 1790 they appropriated $1,500 for its completion. The tower was being built by two local masons John Nichols, and Jonathan Bryant. It was originally only supposed to be 58’ tall, but when they realized that the light would be blocked from the south they decided to make 72’ tall instead. Because of this change Jonathan Bryant resigned from the project, and left the rest to John Nichols. Nichols finished the project in January, 1791. GIS is basically any tool that is a satellite map that you can see places through a mobile, or electronic device. In this case I used Google Earth which I think really nailed the scenery. Bringing out the Pacific Ocean, the landscaping, the rocks, and the buildings, it really makes you feel like you’re
