It was the only pay that was good enough to live off of. Even though factory conditions were terrible and deadly people still tried their best to work. There were over 1,000 people working so it was pretty crowded. There was lots of dust from the factories so when you breathed the air it would get into your lungs and that wasn't good. In document 13 it's said that the dust caused lung damage for people. People had muscles that didn't function properly because of overworking and some workers not eating. The machines weren't safe at all either. They weren't covered up so people got their limbs cut off if they used it the wrong way or an accident happened. Some people ended up dying. It wasn't the safest place to work at all.
There were many different positive and negative effects of the industrial revolution. Child labor took place where children worked in factories, the working class worked in the factories and had some bad living conditions, and the factory was a danger to all that worked there. On the other hand, some new inventions were created that helped better the lives of people a little more which I guess was the greatest positive effect. I think the greatest negative effect was the factory machines being a danger to the workers
