I. Overview of the postpartum period
The postpartum period covers the first few weeks after a woman gives birth to her baby. During this time, her body goes through a lot of changes as it adjusts to the fact that it's no longer carrying a baby. tBecause of these changes, postpartum women usually feel tired and uncomfortable. They can also experience pain and soreness, particularly if they had to go through episiotomy (the surgical incision that's made on the skin between the vagina and anus to help the baby pass through quickly) or if they had to give birth through Cesarian section.

However, in postpartum women with diastasis recti, these muscles must do double duty: they have to maintain the body's core while striving to heal themselves.
When worn properly, a postpartum waist cincher acts as a splint, taking pressure off abdominal muscles and allowing them to focus on healing. As a result, the muscles have the time to properly knit back together and regain their original form and function. This can help in alleviating diastasis recti and allows the opening between the abdominal muscles to shrink in a faster and more effective way.
This process doesn't happen overnight, though; postpartum women have to wear a post pregnancy waist cincher for six to eight weeks or even beyond to see definite results and make their belly shrink in size. While wearing it, mothers can feel more comfortable since their core will be supported, and they'll also develop proper posture since the cincher will force them to sit and stand
