One belief may not be supported by another human being because they do not believe it to be true based on their view of the world and their own experiences and discoveries. Everyone has their different perspectives of the truth. In Oliver Sack’s essay, “The Mind’s Eye”, Sacks described how John Hull’s perception of the world was shaped through his experience of being blind. In Malcolm Gladwell’s essay “The Power of Context”, Gladwell describes how the environment can influence and dictate an individual’s actions. If an individual can be influenced by the environment, than it can also influence the truth because the truth can dictate a person’s life. Our lives are directly influenced by the truth. That concept also is shown in Steven Johnson’s “The Myth of the Ant Queen”. The ants that Johnson observed were similar to humans in a sense where they were adapting to their environment.
