For some individuals, powerlifting means having the ability to move massive amounts of weight while increasing muscle mass, yet for me, it has been a life saver. Powerlifting helped me out of my depression that started at the age of 22. You would think with being in the Army that I would stay within a standard of high readiness and physically fit. Unfortunately, I fell in the cracks of the system, and if I met body fat levels and passed my physical fitness test, I would stay in the Army. It started when was laying on a bed in the Emergency room with a heart rate of 190. As the nurses give me nitroglycerin, I can hear them whispering why someone my age was like this. After spending the night in the Emergency room, they allowed me to go home.
