Since the 1990s cheerleading is not just “rah-rah-rah” with pom-poms (Armenta page 3). With the injuries more than doubled being in the catastrophic nature some even resulting in death. It now a sport involving acrobatics, coordination, and perfect timing for stunts. With cheerleaders preforming human pyramids, twists, flips, drops, and catches in their routines (Armenta page 3). It has become a sport with there being regional and national competitions being held each year against other school cheerleading teams. Also now these competitions are be televised nationally. This is growing the sport popularity however there are still a lot of people who don’t considered a sport. This leading to cheerleading with no uniforms regulations
