Giovanni Camacho 11/20/2014 “I didn’t think I could get Pregnant” The main issue in our society always seems to be around sex, sex is something that must be practiced safely with the necessary precautions. Sex is something that everyone might do at some point in their life; and if teens are the ones that mostly suffer the consequences its because of the poor choices they make when doing so. Kristoff explained that, “…pregnancy is not just a story of headless girls who don’t take the necessary precautions…” this is true because if your old enough to plan for “a night of passion” then your old enough to suffer the consequences of your actions. The author of this article is essentially trying to get help for these teens that didn’t take the precautions, and in my opinion if you actually explain the consequences teenagers could suffer, they might think twice about what there about to do. One surprising fact that Nicholas Kristoff said was “U.S teenagers become pregnant at the rate of one minute.” Even though this is a really terrifying statistic; we all know its not possible to control the lives of every teenage girl in America. If we cant necessarily pave the way of every girl in America, why not try to guide the majority? I mean if we could prevent this from happening, especially on those who don’t necessarily have the income, than were helping them in the long run. When a birth is unplanned how do you expect to be successful with it? Teenage girls sometimes face the struggling decision of what to do with the baby, and sadly abortion and or adoption are considered. I don’t think anyone should consider these as “options” if you were old enough to do what you did, than you should try to at least give your baby the best that you can. Young Americans including myself get so caught up in the moment that you don’t measure up the consequences that might come along with your actions. What most teenagers don’t understand is that sex is much more than a “pastime” it should essentially express how much you love that other person. There are many theories that say if you have sex a certain way, than you might not exactly get pregnant; but its all lies, everything has the same risk. Those young girls that have to take care of there baby essentially put off there own lives in order to take care of that certain individual. In my opinion a baby shouldn’t be seen
