National Down syndrome society (2012) states that Down syndrome is the most common genetic condition because one in every 691 babies in the United States is born with Down Syndrome. A person who is affected by Down syndrome has an extra copy of chromosome 21. I do not believe there is a treatment for aneuploidies, but early detection is possible. I am pregnant right now and my doctor highly recommended a blood draw called molecular cytogenetics/FISH for identification of prenatal aneuploidy such as trisomies.
