Polk became the 11th president of the United States of America that made him the youngest president during 1845-1849. President Polk only served one term because he claimed during his campaign that he wouldn’t run for a second term. If he ran for a second term he would’ve pasted away while in office. During his presidency, President Polk was able to completed the following tasks he mentioned during his campaign and “holds the distinction of being the only president ever to achieve all his campaign promises.” (Darby 2005) President Polk led the nation to its victory over the Mexican – American War that gave the United States Texas and added land to the west. He disputed by England over the Oregon boundary and acquired the Northwest corner of the United States. Finally he seized California and that successfully completed the expansion from coast to coast. He also helped the southern with the cutback of tariffs, taxes, vetoed the river and harbor, negotiation to purchase Cuba, and established the independent federal treasury.
