The Great Society was created by President Lyndon B. Johnson. The purpose of the Great Society was to eliminate poverty and racial injustice throughout the United States and provide freedom for all. Like any plan it had aspects that succeed, and it had aspects that came up short. Johnson had big dreams for what America could be. He wanted to be the best and help everybody get an education, live in a home, and for everybody regardless of skin color to have equal opportunities. The United States were a split country during this time over equal rights. Johnson did not care if what he had to do would cost him the next election he had to do for equal rights.
