This time of excess unemployment was called the Great depression. During this period of time President Roosevelt was named president. He was the one who solved this dilemma with his suggestions called the “Emergency Bank Relief Act”. This act helped to stabilize the economy again. [2]

A potential rival was Senator Huey Long. He had already long developed his own economic plan called “Share the Wealth” This plan was to give $5000 dollars to every American family for them to have a comfortable life and a guaranteed annual income of $2500. Long was assassinated before he could become a serious threat though. [4] The second new deal consisted of suggestions such as Rural Electrification Administration, Works Progress Administration, and Social Security Act, Farm Security Administration and last the Fair Labor Standards Act. Each of the had big impacts on America and they are still constant to today. These deals were meant more to the employees and their basic idea revolved around more jobs for everyone with higher wages since there was now a minimum wage for any job. One of them though which was the Rural electrification Administration dealt with making a problem a great solution for proper rural areas.
