Sara Shepard Author Sara Shepard began writing stories in the 4th grade. She got her MFA at Brooklyn college & now lives outside Philadelphia, her hometown. Shepard has published two best-selling series. “Pretty Little Liars” has been her biggest hit. Shepard published the first PLL book on October 3rd, 2006. The books have also inspired the ABC Family series of the same name. On June 8th, 2010 the first episode premiered on ABC Family.
