This short story tackles the tale of aboriginal how their land was taken by immigrants and named by immigrants. But they aboriginal people were existing in the land from the earliest times. Hence, what goes in this story of Thomas King’s ‘’Borders’’ is a story full comedic and satire of; how modern generation perspective differs from the older generation. How it is not easy for people who have been a part of history to let go of their identity and how the newer generation have not gain any exposure of their tribe past hence, they have lack of understanding community and how the history differs from the rest of the people. The story revolves a mother and son who are traveling to Salt Lake City to visit her older sister. They are stopped at border because the boy mom kept telling the border police that she was ‘’Blackfoot Canadian’’ the police officer just wanted to know whether she was Canadian or American. She has not committed a crime or anything she answered all the questions asked by the police officer she just would not admit that she is Canadian in her perceptive it would be unethical for herself to define herself Canadian instead of calling herself as ‘’Blackfoot’’.
