Octavian was adopted by a Roman Politian and military of the Roman Republic, Julius Caesar. Octavian was the first Roman emperor. When he became emperor he changed his name to the Divine Augustus. He called himself divine because his father, Julius Caesar, was considered a Roman god. Augustus was emperor for life, from 27 BC until his death. As a pretension person, Augustus decided to have an autobiography with all his life accomplishments, The Deeds of the Divine Augustus. When he died he left the text with his will, and instructions to Senate to set them up, he wrote: “inscribed on two bronze pillars, which are set up in Rome.” The Deeds of the Divine Augustus
