prince prospero knew that the plague was nearly wiping out europe and he decided to lock with welded doors shut with a few other people. this decision showed self caring he was. this related to one of the seven sins which is the greed trait. his goal was to make sure he was in good shoes and he could care less if people were dying around him.

while everyone is living in a terrible condition and suffering. he's still ignoring everything that's taking place. before you know people inside of the castle started to die and plaque finally caught up to prospero and the others who being trying the avoid the plaque. the lesson behind this was when you ignore all the bad these you done the snowball effect will caught up to you. one the final stage of prince prospero's life the clock in the black room was ticking very loud inching every bit of life left inside of him. he died in fear just like how everyone did.
