Case # 1 New Haven, Connecticut
In this case we experience concerns in which undocumented immigrants are more susceptible to being victims of crimes. For many years, the city of New Haven was a popular location for immigrants. Police Officers in the city had to adhere to a general order stopping them from randomly questioning a person’s immigration status unless it pertained to criminal activity. Police expressed their interactions with immigration advocacy groups and they came to learn that a major concern of the immigrants were that they are more probable to being victimized. An example of this concern would be many of these immigrants not having legal documentation such as identification to open up a bank account which could result in them being robbed. The city resolved this issue by creating a municipal identification card for all residents no matter the immigration status. This allowed all immigrants to be able to produce valid identification when questioned by law enforcement. This scenario did not call for the presence of a Chief of police.

Also, Phoenix is a major entry point to transport illegal drugs and human smuggling.
