Interviews provide a different gateway to acquire information about one’s experiences, opinions, attitudes, and a greater understanding of the required information. I had the opportunity to interview a University of Maryland alumnus, Priscillia Worral, about her educational and career path as a nurse, as well as learning about the history of nursing education and its career opportunities. Priscillia Worral is a 76 year old retired Registered Nurse(RN), Nurse Researcher and Adjunct Professor. Additional information about Priscilla’s journey to becoming a nurse, her nursing career and how nursing education has changed over the years will be further dove into. In doing one of her clinical rounds at a psychiatry unit in Bellevue, New York, a patient twice her size cornered Priscilla and used a guitar to push her against the wall. She was extremely frightened because there were no emergency buttons she could push to receive help. She thought of strategies to get the patient to back off and sway his attention into playing guitar, but the strategies were not working. Luckily, someone saw them just in time and was able to intervene. Scary as this experience was, Priscilla did not let it debilitate her or permit it to take away her love for nursing. Instead, she made sure to be escorted by someone whenever she had to see a patient in a psychiatric unit. Upon graduation from nursing school, new graduates are expected to take the NCLEX exam to be licensed to work as a nurse. After nursing school and its numerous experiences, Priscilla graduated and was licensed to practice nursing after passing the NCLEX in 1969. How the NCLEX was provided in the 1960s and how it is provided now is completely
