Although the topic of prison sourcing could be controversial, the creation of the Federal Prison Industries (FPI) has benefited the Federal Government at the detriment of the inmates that earn little to no pay for their work and the U.S. businesses that struggle with the inability to compete for government contracts due to unfair competition.
