There are approximately ten thousand armed robberies that are registered each day in the files of agencies around the United States. This is an essential point of interest to law enforcement and the citizens of the United States. The government is incorporating complex measures to reduce the opportunity, capability, and intent of having armed robbers victimizes citizens for their own wrongful way of happiness. The government is implementing a bill, that when caught doing an armed robbery it will double the time of incarceration.
As the criminologist advisor for the federal government, I oversee the concern, pain, and panic of the citizens when it comes to armed robberies. Therefore, the legislature is creating a bill for congress to pass. When it passes, it will double the years of prison time for a convicted armed robbery felon. The minimum sentence for a convicted armed robber is two to nine years depending the severity of the crime, and the maximum sentencing for an armed robbery is twenty-five years to life in prison also depending on the severity of the crime. The government is proposing for whoever commits an armed robbery of any type of severity of crime; the minimum sentencing is going to be twenty years behind state bars, and the maximum sentencing for an armed robbery will be life in prison with or without the possibility of parole depending on the severity of the crime.
This is a positive drastic measure on which the government is taking to reduce the abundance of armed robberies in this country. The goals that the government has for society, is the safety and protection of the community at all cost. It is the mission of the United States of America “to safeguard the lives and property of the people we serve, to reduce the incidence and fear of crime, and to enhance public safety while working with the diverse communities to improve their quality of life. Our mandate is to do so with honor and integrity, while at all times conducting ourselves with the highest ethical standards to maintain public confidence” (lapdonline.org). This is the mission that all law enforcement will obey and stand for to eliminate all possible crime, but specially armed robberies. Furthermore, the government will hire more peace officers around this nation to be more vigilant across America. Law Enforcement agencies will receive more yearly funds to have the opportunity to send peace officers into specialize trainings, to be more equipped, more knowledgeable, and more organized in how to control dangerous situations in a more peaceful and human manner.
This recommendation is a drastic measure because of the severity of the crime. Penal Code 211 PC “California’s robbery law punishes the crime of taking someone else’s property from the person’s body or immediate possession when accomplished by force or fear” (shouselaw.com). State of California was the highest state of armed robberies in 2010 in having eight hundred and five reported armed robberies.
America will always stand for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
