78% of pregnancies are unplanned, 9% of that is teen pregnancy("MIT Pro-Choice -- Facts”). Most teenagers are not physically or mentally ready to give birth. Of the other 69% of the unplanned pregnancies, 64% are using contraception to avoid getting pregnant (MIT Pro-Choice -- Facts). Unplanned pregnancies are very common, every year 14,000 of those pregnancies are from rape or inscest in the U.S. alone ("MIT Pro-Choice -- Facts”). Today in most states the law is you can no longer have an abortion after 26 weeks. A 2012 study from the Center for Disease Control states that 91.3 % of abortions happen within the first trimester, which is within 12 weeks. Studies show that the fetus's body is almost fully formed at week 12. (“Pro-Life: Abortion Controversy”). While it is true after the first trimester the baby is alive, that 9.7% that has not aborted their baby yet might not even know their pregnant and if they do know, they're probably debating what to do with the baby. About 2% of abortions happen after 21 weeks ("MIT Pro-Choice -- Facts”). So most of the 9.7% get rid of the fetus in the second trimester. In most cases, abortion is not murder because the fetus is not alive
