Induced abortion is the deliberate termination of baby before it’s birth. Spontaneous abortions are called miscarriages. It is a controversial topic with different cultural, religious and individual perspectives, those who are against the idea and wish for it to be illegal, those who believe it should be resisted and those who feel it should be legal and freely accessible. It is an ongoing debate whether it should be legal, the rights of the foetus and the woman’s rights over her own body. People who are pro-life opposing abortion and pro-choice which advocates the legal right for a woman to choose whether she wants an abortion.

It is also argued that women will seek an abortion whether or not it is illegal but under unsafe conditions, relying on another person without the medical training or the means and even self-abort. About 56 million abortions take place each year, with below half done unsafely. This can lead to serious issues like, incomplete abortion, haemorrhage and damage to internal organs. Women can endure further psychological harm if are forced to continue through with the pregnancy in cases of rape or incest. Catholics believe in the sanctity of life and dignity of a human, any deliberate, voluntary or conscious committing of evil it is never justifiable.
