11-05-2012 Went to the theater production on 10-25-2012
Assignment/Midterm: Theater and Speech Department
Production / Speech Critiques.
On the 25th of October, I have attended a theater production called Six Characters In Search Of An Author. In this production two people caught my attention, that was because of their clarity and mostly loudness. First person to catch my attention was Shawn Brown, and second was Jacob Baccus.
Shawn Brown played the role of a director in the production, he caught my attention because he was very energetic and very loud and clear, he was very easy to understand (1). I concentrated on his final consonants and I realized because of his loudness and exaggeration that they were at the very best (4). Also there were 2 other very noticeable things, one was the rate (speed) at which he spoke most of his parts were the same, second was his thoughts, it was easy to tell when there was new thought because of the thought groups and the pausing in between each thought (8).
Jacob Baccus played the of a father. He caught my attention because of his tone (volume) change during different emotions, any change of the volume during different emotional parts was appropriate, that is because to show that he feels and means what he is saying he must change his tone, if he did not change his tone and kept it loud all though out the play then it would show as he was emotionless or just angry at all times. For example when he said “love for you, believe in you” his volume change from the normal loud level to a bit lower, and that helped him express his emotion and help me understand what he was
