Overall, I had a very successful semester. I believe I was able to completely achieve all six of my goals to a degree. There is always room for improvement, though, so I will not say that there is not anything I can work on in the future. Since the majority of my patients were going to be discharged later that day or the next day, the most significant improvement was in the area of spiritual care.
1. My first goal for NU 207 was to use every patient as an opportunity to further my nursing knowledge.

I also plan on actually reading the patient’s file instead of skimming it so I am able to appropriately collaborate on their care.
6. My sixth goal for NU 207 was to be known, by my actions, both verbal and nonverbal, and my care for my patient and their nurse that I am a Christian student nurse.
Strengths: On the first day, my patient needed quite a bit of emotional and spiritual care. I was able to pray with her and ask her about her church situation and salvation. She responded that she was a non-practicing Methodist, but that she knew the Lord. On another week, the patient asked where I was from. When I told him Pensacola Christian College, he responded that he was an avid listener of Rejoice. We were able to connect on the fact that we both love Pastor McBride’s messages and we enjoyed several conversations about Rejoice and God. Another patient and I ended up walking the halls since he was tired of being stuck in the hospital. As we walked, we talked about everything under the sun, including the Son. The patient was not interested beyond wanting to know what it was like going to campus
