Assistant Professor, School Psychology

This faculty member will primarily teach graduate courses in the Specialist in School Psychology program and may also teach undergraduate courses in human neuropsychology, developmental psychology, educational psychology, or other specialty courses in psychology. Development of an independent research program is expected, with supervision of undergraduate research and masters theses. Service to the department, college, and university is expected. This faculty member will have an office in the department's public-facing Psychological Services Clinic and will be expected to supervise graduate students in this facility. All members of the faculty are expected to participate in regional engagement and support the College of Education and Allied professions Diversity Mission/Vision/Goals statement (http://www.wcu.edu/3052.asp). The Department of Psychology has 19 full-time faculty members, over 400 undergraduate majors and approximately 35 full-time graduate students. There are graduate programs in general-experimental, clinical and school psychology. We currently have 3 school psychology The institution has adopted the Boyer model of scholarship as a means of supporting its commitment to the stewards of place model and integrated learning. As such, faculty are expected to utilize the scholarship of engagement to enhance student learning.

The successful candidate will be expected to fully support the implementation of the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) and be significantly engaged with public schools in the region. Minimum Training & Experience Requirements: Ph.D. from an APA and NASP accredited school psychology program, with eligibility for licensure in North Carolina (ABD will be considered).

Preferred Qualifications: Strongly preferred: Preparation in neuropsychology and ability to teach both graduate and undergraduate courses in this area.

Desirable: Comfort in teaching within a scientist-practitioner model graduate program with a cognitive-behavioral orientation, emphasizing empirically supported practices and interventions.
