Progressivism was at its peak during the 1900s. Americans needed to improve major issues in their country that weren’t being assessed in earlier years. Progressives aimed to restore economic opportunities and correct injustices in American life. The people of the nation needed to push and get the attention of the federal government to make solutions. The reformers movements were very effective and solved problems involving corrupt business, child labor, and women's suffrage.
The actions of corrupt business was the fault for many issues including misuse of trusts, monopolies, factory conditions and many more. Business owners’ only concern was how much money their business received. Trusts were being abused, meaning business owners were using

They get smaller pay, given less opportunities, and worst of all they aren’t even given the right to vote. Groups like the National Woman's Party and the National American Woman’s Suffrage Association (NAWSA) worked extremely hard using unique tactics to become noticed. One of their most famous methods was picketing.The suffragists would hold signs that targeted government to give women the right to vote (doc h). Anti-suffragists became so annoyed that they found things to arrest them for that made no sense whatsoever such as disrupting traffic. This movement was especially big during Woodrow Wilson’s presidential campaign. He claimed while campaigning that he supported their cause. However, once he was elected he avoided them and didn’t make an effort to make a change. This goes to show that people in government don’t always solve everyone's problems, despite their intelligence (doc f). Even so, their many long years of rallying, picketing, and fighting became worth it in 1919 when Wilson finally gave women suffrage (the 19th Amendment.) After the ratio of people that could vote to people that actually voted became significantly smaller since so many women now had suffrage (doc j). The determination and drive of these women reformers was what made them extremely successful.
