What is pronation and supination?
If you’re looking for the right type of running shoes online you’re going to run into a bunch of information that centers on the words pronation and supination. But what is pronation and supination? If you’ve read my through my website you would have already summarized that I can be a very stubborn and impulsive person so when I came across those terms I looked them up to try to understand them. And when I looked up the definition and didn’t grasp the word, I told myself I understood and just went on ahead to run in the battered old shoes that I’ve had for years. They were more like sneakers than they were running shoes. A terrible mistake if you’ve got an exaggerated form of pronation or supination.
Pronation and Supination are something you must understand before you go out to buy a pair of running shoes because some people have a style of running that can be potentially hurtful if your style doesn’t efficiently distribute the weight of your body on your ligaments, tendons, and muscles.

PRONATION
Pronation can be summarized very simply to the way your foot rolls inward while running. This also occurs when you walk (obviously). This description will let you know why understanding pronation matters so much with running but very little with walking.
Pronation has three steps
1. Your foot makes initial contact with the ground.
2. Your foot forms a base for a brief moment to support your body weight.
3. You push off for the next step.
There are a total of three pronation types: neutral pronation, over-pronation, and supination.
