War places a large burden on not only an individual but all of society involved.

Propaganda played a large part during this time. It showed people that although they are separate individual's during war they are one form. This encouraged a nation to unite and through that an overall strength emerged. They had put aside their personal struggles aside for a greater purpose.

When men and women are expected and called upon to go to war this means they must leave their families and friends. They become isolated among others who are in the exact same position but have no control over their lives. They must cope without loved ones and focus on their current responsibilities, not to mention the on-going internal battle to risk their lives and survive
