Propaganda In 'Dulce Et Decorum Est'

The poem of “Dulce Et Decorum Est” as Roxanne also said was a bit hard to understand, there were bunch of difficult words for me like ”Five-Nines” (8), but as I reread it again and listened to the audio I realized the speaker is describing a scene of war where the exhausted soldiers were getting back to their “distant rest” and suddenly a gas bomb killed one the soldier in front of speaker’s eyes. In my opinion, the main reason of speaker for describing that disgusting scene was last lines of the poem as he said “My friend, you would not tell with such high zest / to children ardent for some desperate glory, /the old lie; Dulce et Decorum est / Pro Patria Mori”(25-28) which I think it was against the propaganda of that time who were encouraging
