What does this activity involve?

what "need" does this activity address in your community?
Our goal of this activity is to help first year international students make friends with their peers who are sharing the same background. And the activity can also provide some information about Canadian contemporary art which can expand international students’ horizons and get to know more about Canadian culture.

how will you prepare for this activity?
We will do some research on the museum and prepare a list of questions which answers can be easily found in the museum. We will give each of our cohorts a questionnaire and ask them to fill out during their visit in the museum. At the end, if they can answer all the questions correctly, we will provide them some gifts as rewards. student learning outcomes*

Domain: Interpersonal competence
Dimensions: 1. Meaningful relationship 2.Collaboration
Learning Outcomes: 1. The activity establishes healthy, reliable and mutually beneficial relationships between students while they take the art tour together and share their personal experiences of study and life in Canada. 2. Students adapt to the inclusive environment in Canada, including respect different regions and points of views when they work cooperatively with others to find the solutions on the questionnaire 3. Students know more and have more trust about the PILs in the charge of the attending cohorts. More people will participate and support the internationaLIFE program.

risk assessment
What are the risks involved?
1. Transportation: because we are going to take our cohorts to the AGM by bus, it is possible that some of them may show up late and we have to leave without them.

2. Attendance: Even though we have checked the AGM website that the museum is free for students, it is still possible that if too many people show up, we might exceed the museum’s capacity or any problems about group visiting.
What will you do to minimize the risks?

1. Check the bus schedule and be sure to let everybody know when and where to meet; leaving cellphone numbers in case some of them cannot find the place to meet. 2. Communicate with the museum before going.
