Understanding the many distortions of the Christian worldview is an important step to recognizing and obeying the truth. One of the many distortions include the idea the Christianity is anti-intellectual. However scripture accounts of Jesus’ intellectual debate with philosophers (Matthew 22, NIV) along with Paul’s intellectual attempts to reason with philosophers (Acts 17: 16-31, NIV) and Peter’s challenge to give a reason for their hope (1 Peter 3:15-16, NIV), proves Christianity encourages and embraces intellectual debates and challenges (Groothius, 2011). Other distortions of Christianity discussed in this course include a warfare between Christianity and science, Christianity promotes racism and slavery, Christianity is sexist, Christianity promotes homophobia, Christianity thrives on coercion and imperialism, and Christianity’s idea of the afterlife is boring (Groothius, 2001). Unfortunately these distortions can distract individuals from the true message of God. However with a solid development of the Christian worldview a Christian is able to provide the truth that these example of Christian distortions are not true within the Christian
