Over the period from 235 CE to 285 CE, 22 emperors that reigned during this 50-year period. There were 22 emperors 13 were assassinated. Many of the emperors only last for couple of months(Document A). All these frequent deaths really made people think that these emperors were not stable. The citizens got a negative feeling that the Emperor is greedy and not humble to their country. This explains why the most amount of years that the emperor rained was only 7 years, some only even rained for only a couple of months. When the Huns came in the picture, the Roman citizens thought that their rules and laws were much more fair. Another reason why the Roman army was losing land due to the ineffectiveneess of conscription. Due to all of the conscription exemptions, many people could escape from serving in the military. People such as senators, cooks, bakers, and even slaves were exempted because of the pessure from the emperor, which made it difficult to get men to join the military and as a result, the borders were not protected from invaders. This was a poor decision made by the leaders and one that cost them their empire (Document B). The poor decision by the emperors to allow the military to not wear their armor or do parade drills is yet another reason why poor political leadership is the most important reason why Rome declined By allowing them to not have protection and not be prepared they fought like cats and dogs and so they were vulnerable to attack (Document B) The Roman military basically had a weak spot; their head and chests. that made it easier for the Goths to beat the Romans and make the decline
