Many believe that if prostitution were to be legalized, the crime rate associated with it would decrease. While this may be true, many risk factors would rise in the case of prostitution being decriminalized. Prostitution should remain illegal because there are more negative impacts on society than there are positive. With the decriminalization, it would show the public that prostitution is more acceptable, even though the men and women working would be in the same amount of danger that they were in when it was illegal. Research has shown that with prostitution comes many dangers such as, sexually transmitted diseases and violence (AOW CITATION). In America, it has been found that one in every ten men have paid for sex in their lives (AOW). Even though it is not uncommon, it does not make prostitution
