One of the major controversies that we speak about today is, is spanking young children an effective discipline? The debate is whether is illegal to spank your children for something they have done or if there are other ways to punish your child besides giving them a spank. This controversy is significant because research has been found that spanking your child on a regular basis tend to most likely have bad mental health, increase in delinquency and criminal behaviors. It’s important that we are researching about this topic because this something we deal every day and we have also experienced it. The purpose of the author is to implore everyone that is a parent, that there are ways around than just spanking our children. The author is against the fact that children get spank for something bad they do, but briefly gives statistics based on research that proof that spanking children is effective on short term and long term behaviors. It proofs in significant ways based on research and other observations they made that children that don’t get spanked are more likely to cooperate and trust their parents.
