The King has ruined the citizens, and the country of France. He has put France into a lot of debt due to sending the French troops across the Atlantic Ocean, and by allowing the Queen to spend a lot of money on ridiculous clothing and jewelry (French). King Louis and Marie Antoinette spend all the countries’ money on themselves and nothing on their people. King Louis XVI taxes the poor very heavily but the nobility doesn’t pay much at all (French). Not only that, but the price of bread became equal to one month’s earnings (French). He and his wife have been eating 1,000 people’s worth of food EACH day. (French) If the king and queen stop eating that much we could feed about everybody in this city. After a while without them eating, the harvest will go up and then people could have meals everyday. Now if we keep him in power he will ruin France. For those reasons I have come up with the idea to take over France, become a Republic, and to create and have a constitution. We, the people of France, should be able to vote, have rights and be free. I believe that the people of France are fundamentally good and are therefore capable of advancing the well-being of the nation (Maximilien). It would be called “Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen”. With this Declaration, France should be better financially, the riots will stop and people will have rights and freedom. The declaration of the rights of man should include 1) All men and citizens have rights. 2) Citizens have the right to liberty, property, security, and resistance to oppression. 3) The source of all sovereignty is essentially in the nation; no body, no individual can exercise authority that does not proceed from it in plain terms (Constitution). 4) You are innocent until proven guilty. 5) Someone cannot take your property unless there is a law being broken, in that case only a law official may take it. 6) The guarantee of the rights of man and citizen requires a public force; this force then is instituted for the advantage of all and not for the personal benefit of those to whom it is entrusted (Constitution). 7) Everyone, no matter what estate, pays the same taxes. 8) Every citizen has the right to say and write what they want; if you abuse this law then the law will handle it accordingly. 9) Law is the expression of the general will. All citizens have the right to take part personally or by their representatives in its formation. It must be the same for all, whether it protects or punishes. All citizens being equal in its eyes, are equally eligible to all public dignities, places, and employments, according to their capacities,
