Should Confederate monuments be removed? Many would agree and disagree because some people love seeing what their countries have overcome. While, other individuals choose to believe that Confederate monuments are a sign of celebration instead of showing what their countries have overcome. In the first article, Moments in History by Charlie Brennan, senior Managing Editor, it talks about how monuments inform descriptions based on how our history makes choices for the future. The other article Reminders of Racism by David Higuchi talks about how Confederate monuments do not provide an accurate description of how the event went down. Personally, I agree with the article One Moments in History by Charlie Brennan because many have died in bloody wars, accomplished things unbelievable like the freedom of speech, or a horrible event like slavery.

For example, Kayla Wilson, an African American who attended Robert E. Lee High School in San Antonio, was forced to see every single day what happened in the past and how it was a dark time. Also, David states “Just because something is part of history does not mean it deserves to be respected.” These Confederate monuments are spreading false information about our country and have had to fight many different events to get where we are now. There are parts of history that are hidden behind the monuments like Thomas Jefferson and how he was the writer of the Declaration of Independence, and also a slave owner. So, it's important to know that the Confederate monuments have dark parts of history and people don’t want to be reminded of the bad parts of history every time they walk by a monument or a piece of
